Role changes — an effective date is required for each

A roster is a snapshot: it says what a title is, never when it changed, and the Rippling export carries no effective-date column. Look each title change up in Rippling's job history — do not guess, and do not use today. A row marked Role override is a manual exception rather than a Rippling change: date it from when the exception should start applying.

Effective dates are recorded and queryable. Whether the payroll engine applies them retroactively is pending confirmation from the data team.
